Anthropic introduced Claude Sonnet 4.6 in February this year and described it as”our most capable Sonnet model yet. It’s a full upgrade of the model’s skills across coding, computer use, long-context reasoning, agent planning, knowledge work, and design. Sonnet 4.6 also features a 1M token context window in beta.”
The company Anthropic first introduced Claude in March 2023 when they described it as a “next-generation AI assistant based on Anthropic’s research into training helpful, honest, and harmless AI systems. Accessible through chat interface and API in our developer console, Claude is capable of a wide variety of conversational and text processing tasks while maintaining a high degree of reliability and predictability.”
Anthropic was founded by former OpenAI executives Dario and Daniela Amodei in 2021 and is a privately held AI safety and research company. On February 27, President Donald Trump wrote in a Truth Social Post that every federal agency in the United States should cease use of Anthropic’s technology. He wrote: “THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL NEVER ALLOW A RADICAL LEFT, WOKE COMPANY TO DICTATE HOW OUR GREAT MILITARY FIGHTS AND WINS WARS! That decision belongs to YOUR COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF, and the tremendous leaders I appoint to run our Military.
“The Leftwing nut jobs at Anthropic have made a DISASTROUS MISTAKE trying to STRONG-ARM the Department of War, and force them to obey their Terms of Service instead of our Constitution. Their selfishness is putting AMERICAN LIVES at risk, our Troops in danger, and our National Security in JEOPARDY.
“Therefore, I am directing EVERY Federal Agency in the United States Government to IMMEDIATELY CEASE all use of Anthropic’s technology. We don’t need it, we don’t want it, and will not do business with them again!
“There will be a Six Month phase out period for Agencies like the Department of War who are using Anthropic’s products, at various levels. Anthropic better get their act together, and be helpful during this phase out period, or I will use the Full Power of the Presidency to make them comply, with major civil and criminal consequences to follow.

At 11:49 UTC, Claude reported on their website that “We are currently investigating this issue.” This was in response to reports of elevated issues. At 12:06, they said: “We are continuing to investigate this issue.”
At 12:21 UTC, Claude wrote: We have identified that the Claude API is working as intended. The issues we are seeing are related to Claude.ai and with the login/logout paths.” At 13:22, Claude gave an update and said: “The issue has been identified and a fix is being implemented.”
Claude updated users at 13:37 UTC and said: “We have discovered that some API methods are not working and we are investigating.”
